The Xantrex XP1500 (right) is an inexpensive solution for off-the-grid solar power for remote locations, or backup power for at home.  It is great for art fairs and craft booths, where owners could run their cash registers, computers and other powered systems off this battery for a weekend.

This portable unit may be recharged every night in the car -if you go home at least 10 miles - via the cigarette lighter adapter (it works!).   It will last about 3 hours with a computer running continuously.   I did watch a movie, rewound it and boiled water for tea and made toast the next morning before it had a low voltage condition (red light).  It has an excellent charger to plug into the wall outlet.

Xantrex XP1500 $481

For remote locations for 5 hours per night --2 fluorescent lights--year round  (lights and boiling water + toast in the summer)- I put on a Morningstar controller and hooked it to a 135 watt Kyocera pv module. It works !  It is super and well worth the $481.00.  I will deliver it in the Seattle area for free.

I am trying to help people get started with solar projects so they can better determine what they need to run all appliances for their home.  It is advisable to get partial solar electrical power for the home and work up to the 20 to 30 thousand dollar investment required for an average home on the W. coast of Oregon, Washington or British Columbia.

This Kyocera 50 watt PV Module $333.33 (includes shipping)
Foldable Frame (not included)

This 130w Kyocera PV Module $780 (includes shipping)
Foldable Frame (not included)
